in trying to make sense of something often means trying to give it a distinct marker, yet another definition is always possible
and when assigning meaning to life, most will undoubtedly consider only a small representation of biological species on the phylogenetic tree
that is, human beings
personally, the meaning of life is to evolve (applicable to all organisms)
and because evolution has no intended purpose other than to complement an organism to its environment through chance events, we have no inherent purpose and so can assign any meaning we choose that will carry us to the end
